College Station has been my home for 8 years. In this time I have made a lot of friends and seen them move on to bigger cities with careers, spouses and kids (agh!). The time has finally come for me to move on too, and I am now calling Dallas, Texas home. So if you live there, let’s be friends and make videos and eat delicious food together.
Speaking of delicious food, for the time that I have been in College Station, I’ve been looking for the best places to go out to eat. Now, DO NOT confuse the term “best place” with any other terms such as “fine dining”, “accepts credit cards”, “expensive atmosphere”, or “english speaking required”, because that is not what I am referring to. When I say BEST PLACE, I mean the food is going to blow your mind and you’ll be willing to sacrifice comforts such as english and credit cards to get just a taste.
You may have heard of some of these places, and I may have even been the one to introduce you to some of them, but I can guarantee you that none of them will be heavily populated by sorority girls wanting Margaritas, or even other College Students for that matter. If you’re a local, you (probably) have been to these places and love them. If you’re an adventurous food lover, you’ve probably been to many of these restaurants before as well.
Some may say I’m breaking the rules by revealing all the good places College Station and Bryan offer to eat. But, I’m moving so I have no worry about crowded restaurants. And I have all of Dallas to explore now; so please, if you live in Dallas, let me know of some good places to chow.
On to the restaurants! These are in no particular order, but I have made an attempt to say what kind of food they offer, and which menu item you should order. There are in-depth reviews for each of these on my Yelp Profile. If I missed any, please let me know in the comments.

I have a confession to make. I made my old logo in 10 minutes in Photoshop back in 2009. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing, or what text leading or kerning meant.
Last year I realized that I desperately needed a new logo for my blog and began asking friends of mine for help. My friend Brittan Pittman came up with the original concept for this logo in around 10 minutes and it looked amazing. I really like how it blends the W for Who and the M for Matt together, while still providing separation. After Brittan came up with the concept, I sent it over to my friends at Creative New World and they finalized the look. I was really looking for a logo that related well with my logo for my production company FilmStrong Productions, but that also stood well on its own. This would mean keeping with the same color palette as FilmStrong, but making sure everything else about the logo was unique.
This logo is great in that it also gives me two options when branding. I can use it with the circle, and without. Both options give me creative control that I didn’t have before. Depending on whether I am using business cards or logos on a website, having a circular or rectangular logo option is important.

Ever since Texas A&M University was accepted into the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the matchup between A&M and the University of Alabama was always looming. Alabama went into the November 10,2012 game as the number one ranked school in college football. Even worse for the 15th ranked Aggies was that they had to play the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, AL. Long story short, A&M beat Alabama at home and gave them their first loss of the season. This was the biggest win in Aggie football that I have ever witnessed and made for an extremely exciting football game to watch.
Around 9pm that night, while I was still trying to fathom what I had just seen, I received a phone call from the division of marketing and communications at A&M asking me to photograph the teams return that night from their away game. Of course I agreed, so I gathered my equipment with my intern and rushed to Kyle Field to meet a tidal wave of Aggies in maroon waiting for the team to arrive. I was able to capture many pictures of the excitement that was filling the area and then when the team arrived the crowd really erupted. I also watched as the players and coaches walk down a sea of maroon of people and be congratulated for their big win. Coach Sumlin and Johnny Manziel walked two feet past me. It was awesome to be a part of this moment in Texas A&M history.
