Ashley and Tyler // Proposal Film // Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Texas

Ashley and Tyler Engaged June 8 2013I’ve been good friends with Ashley and Tyler for several years now. Ashley has helped me film many weddings and is one of the most talented creative people that I know. Two months ago Tyler called me and announced he was ready to propose, and he wanted my help. On June 8, Ashley would be taking photos of her friends Skyler and Brad, all over Dallas. Tyler hijacked their photo-shoot and had them tell Ashley they also wanted photos taken at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.

I arrived with Tyler at the gardens at 10am, with the expectation of Ashley arriving anywhere from 11am-1pm. Well, she had a lot of creative inspiration during her photo-shoot and didn’t end up arriving until 1:30. This was actually beneficial because I had a lot of time to interview Tyler about his story leading up to the proposal.
After many secretive phone calls and text messages between Tyler and Brad, Ashley finally arrived at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. Brad and Skyler told her how much they wanted to take pictures in one place, and when Ashley walked around the corner, Tyler was there waiting for her. You can see from the film that she was completely taken by surprise. This was easily one of the best proposals I have ever filmed, and I expect to film their wedding in a few months.

The History of Impact Retreat // Promo Video

Find GodFor the past six years, I have been involved with a Christian retreat for incoming freshmen to Texas A&M and Blinn called Impact Retreat.  In those years, I counseled freshmen, made a lot of friends, and made some of my most creative videos.  The Impact folder on my computer currently sits at over 500 Gigabytes of video files.  These videos have ranged from short ideas that were filmed and edited in a few hours, to much bigger stories that took months of preparation and editing.  It has been incredibly rewarding to create videos that show what God is doing in the lives of freshmen at Texas A&M through Impact.

Up until this year, I didn’t really know the story of how Impact retreat began.  That all changed when Impact asked me to create a promo video that would show incoming freshmen, their parents, and youth ministers what the purpose of Impact is and why freshmen should attend.  I filmed eight interviews over the course of two months and edited the story of how Impact began, and why it is an amazing retreat for freshmen.  About halfway through editing, I realized that the promo video would work better as two separate videos, one showcasing the history of Impact Retreat, and another explaining more details about the camp.
This video is the history of Impact, as told by the founders and staff involved with the retreat.  Throughout the video is also a story of how one freshman named Jevon had his eternal destiny forever changed by attending the retreat.  I hope you enjoy seeing how Impact was founded.  Expect to see the second half in the coming weeks.

Kelli and Dustin // Wedding Highlight Film // First United Methodist Church, Temple Texas

WhisperI met Dustin while filming a Fightin’ Texas Aggie Football game two years ago.  He was a pretty cool photographer and we bonded over shared excitement of having field passes for football games.  Last year, his fiance Kelli emailed me about filming their wedding in December.  After a few emails back and forth I made the connection of who she was marrying and immediately got even more excited about filming their wedding.

The two of them together make for one of the more goofy and laid back couples that I’ve filmed (which I prefer).  The entire time I filmed Dustin I was laughing at something he did or said to his groomsmen.  Kelli provides a balance to Dustin’s humor while trying to be serious in some moments but totally giving in to his jokes the next.  Their personalities mix perfectly.

Just MarriedKelli and Dustin were married at The First United Methodist Church, in Temple, Texas.  But, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself because they let me film their rehearsal dinner the night before at Peacock River Ranch in Gatesville, Texas.  They really went all out on this rehearsal dinner too – there was dancing, s’mores, amazing food (with queso), and redneck wine glasses.  Their wedding day was amazing as well.  First United Methodist Church is a historic landmark and has some of the best architecture at any wedding I’ve ever seen.  Amazing stained glass with a round auditorium made for a unique ceremony.

It was great meeting these two love birds and getting the chance to tell their story.

Please download the video below and watch it in HD, the film grain I put on it looks much better without web compression.
