Last week I had the chance to sit down for an hour with Wes Anthony from the Just Fix It In Post podcast to talk about wedding filmmaking and the DSLR revolution ten years ago (has it really been that long?!). We also shared some fun stories from over the years.
Thanks to Wes for having me on! You can listen to the full podcast on YouTube above, or on iTunes.

Is your computer too slow to edit 4K video? Or do you have a fast computer that still lags when you are editing 4K, 6K, or even 8K footage? This video will show you how to create proxy files to MASSIVELY speed up your video editing speed, regardless of the specs of your computer.
This is my entire workflow for creating video proxies, including my exact preset settings for both Mac and PC. You can also download my proxy preset (linked above) to save you the time of creating your own.
Lastly, I cover how to create proxies even if you interpret your footage! If you’ve tried doing this before, you’ve probably noticed that the frame rates of your proxy files don’t match up with your native video files. My workaround fixes this issue. 🙂
😃 I recommend watching my “Frame Rates Explained Video”, which will go in detail about how I shoot and edit video that is multiple frame rates: https://youtu.be/gf1od2xCaFY

I live streamed this keynote to my YouTube channel, but the audio quality wasn’t ideal. Thankfully, I wore a mic during my talk and this version has improved audio quality as well as slides and onscreen text.

Adventures are always better with someone! Frodo has Sam, Han has Chewie, Spongebob has Patrick, and Sam has Mel. Those last two built their relationship on discovering new places, so when it came time to get married it makes sense that they would choose Iceland, a country they hadn’t ever explored.
With their closest friends along for the ride, they adventured across the entire Southern Region, visiting waterfalls, dancing in lava fields, and saying their vows at the glacier lagoon. It was a wedding unlike anything we (or probably anyone else) had seen before. We loved it.
Getting married in Iceland or anywhere else? We would LOVE to film it! Please get in touch at http://www.filmstrong.com.

Ever film a wedding where the couple wants to see each other before the ceremony? That’s called a first look, & this is how to film one!

And yes, this means I have another wedding behind the scenes series! This one will be a bit different though; instead of filming one massive BTS, this one will be split up into smaller topics like this one.

❗The Crane 2 Giveaway is OVER, but you can still signup for my email newsletter here: http://go.whoismatt.com/
In my 2016 review of the Ronin-M, I concluded that I still preferred using a Glidecam HD4000 for stabilizing my camera when filming weddings. Here we are two years later and the gimbal landscape has changed dramatically, with single-handed gimbals growing both in popularity and weight capacity, leading many wedding filmmakers (myself included) to wonder if it is time to buy an electronic gimbal.
To help you answer that question, I bought a Crane 2 and have been using it for the past five months! In this review, I will be answering the following questions:
❓ How EASY is the Crane 2 to setup, balance, and use when filming a wedding?
❓ How does the Crane 2 compare to the Glidecam and Ronin-M?
Whether you are a beginning filmmaker that has never owned a gimbal before, or you already own a Glidecam or Ronin-M and have been considering buying a single-handed gimbal like the Crane 2, this video should help you make a decision about whether it will be a good investment for you.
