When I first met Sanjuana and Melesio over coffee in College Station, they brought Sanjuana’s little niece along. She was adorable, and she informed me that she intended to be a YouTube star one day. I told her she could be in their wedding film and then she’d be famous.
I’d like to say she stole the show. She didn’t quite, because Sanjuana and Melesio were unmistakably the stars of the day.
St Joseph Catholic Church
The ceremony was a full Catholic mass at St Joseph in Bryan, which gives you a very different rhythm to work with than a twenty minute outdoor ceremony. Then everyone spilled out onto those big front steps, which is one of the better exits a church can hand you.
Time With The Couple
I always love having enough time to film the bride and groom together, before or after the ceremony depending on whether there’s a first look. That time consistently produces some of my favourite shots of the day, because they’re just candidly being happy at being married for the first time and nobody is asking anything of them.
Sanjuana made me very excited about this wedding, because she carved out several hours for filming the two of them with the bridal party. Several hours. Combined with how fun and easygoing they both were, it made for one of the best days I’ve had filming.
And There Was A Mariachi
They had a mariachi at their reception, which automatically makes any reception ten times cooler. I got a photo with him.
