Over five years of friendship, Emily has confessed to me many times that she has been on my site, watched wedding films for hours, and cried. So when she met Ryan and things started getting serious, I started quietly hoping I’d get to add her wedding to the list too.
There was a twist. These two Texas born and raised Aggies went for something less traditional. With only their closest friends and family, they road-tripped the whole way from the Texas heat to Nashville, Tennessee, for an intimate wedding out in the forested countryside.
Letters, Vows, And A Lot Of Quiet
What they built for themselves was a day with very little in it that wasn’t the point. They read letters to each other before anything started. They said their vows. There was dinner, there was dancing, and there were a lot of quiet moments where nothing was happening except the two of them being married to each other.
It is a very different thing to film. With two hundred guests you’re managing logistics all day. With a room this size you’re mostly standing very still and staying out of the way, which is a fair description of the whole job when it’s going well.
Nashville
Rachel and I loved getting away to a city where the music was king, the chicken was hot, and the weddings were lit. I’m told that’s what the kids are saying.
Nashville has joined Portland on our short list of favorite cities to visit, and we would very much like to go back and film another one there.
