When I think Truluck’s Seafood, Steak and Crab House, I used to think of the obvious: seafood, steak and crab.
When Catherine and Stan think about that restaurant, they think about true love, years of memories, and an eye patch.
The Eye Patch
A few years back a new cocktail waitress in training, that being Catherine, caught the eye of the head bartender, that being Stan. She was wearing an eye patch at the time.
Ask Catherine about it and you get “why would he be interested in a girl with a patch over her eye?” Ask Stan and you get “not even an eye patch could stop me.”
Barely a month later they were inseparable. Four years after that, here we are at their wedding. Love came easy to these two.
Shotguns, Mimosas, And A White Tent

They both knew they wanted something laid back. So: a simple white tent in her dad’s backyard. Shotguns for the guys to shoot in the morning. Mimosas at a bed and breakfast for the girls. A ceremony under the oak trees out in the family pasture.

Handwritten notes and handwritten vows, the latter of which Stan threw away partway through the ceremony so he could, in his words, just wing it.
The Reception

Laughter, margaritas, and a rousing song performed by a groomsman who did not, strictly speaking, sound like a singer.
This was exactly Catherine and Stan’s ideal wedding, and it fit them perfectly. It fit me pretty well too.
Now when I think about Truluck’s I still think seafood, steak and crab. But I also think about eye patches, and about these two. Not a bad thought.
