You’ve heard the expression, time flies when you’re having fun. I think it applies just as well to spending time with someone you enjoy being around.
Hours can feel like seconds the first time you feel that ache of love. Days turn into months turn into years, and before you know it a decade has gone by, full of memories and ups and downs and, above all, love.
I’ll admit this hasn’t happened to me yet. The love and the time flying, yes. But I haven’t hit a decade with my wife. We didn’t start dating until 2011, so we aren’t even halfway there.
Ten Years
Vince and Mariah have us soundly beaten.
They met in high school. They survived a hardcore phase involving long hair and tight jeans. They came out the other side of college still together, albeit with pink hair and hipster glasses. Ten years, and still going strong.
Love Perseveres
I learned a lot about love filming and editing this wedding.
God describes love as a lot of things. Patient. Kind. But the quality that struck me watching Vince and Mariah is that love perseveres. Through the good and the bad, over all that time, theirs hasn’t faltered. There’s something in that the rest of us can learn from.
