My favourite part of filming weddings is the character of each couple I get to spend a day with. They run the whole spectrum of human emotion and capability, with visions and ideas entirely their own. And yet every one of them is there for the same event: to covenant to spend the rest of their lives together.
Jordan and Jamie were one of those couples. She’s the outgoing one, with political aspirations and a personality to match. He’s the reserved and steady one, a doctor with a good instinct for what’s right and how to fix what’s broken. Spend any time with the two of them and you’ll see how much they bring out the best in each other.
Our First Wedding With A Drone
This was the first wedding we shot with the DJI Phantom, and you can see the results scattered through the film. We flew around the Queen Theater and the Brazos Cotton Exchange, and it did something I hadn’t managed before: it pulled the theater and the whole of Downtown Bryan into the story rather than leaving it as a backdrop the couple happened to be standing in front of.
The Sony FS700
I also cannot say enough good things about the FS700 on this one.
Sparklers in slow motion have never looked so good, and a sparkler exit down a sidewalk in downtown Bryan is exactly the thing that camera was built for.
