Will Boesl, of the melodic duo Yo Soy, asked me last year whether I’d film his band performing live as a promotional piece. Thinking Will is one of the coolest guys I know, I immediately said yes, and we set about filming in late November.

Shot on a November evening, with the light going fast.

The whole thing is one live take, shot in and around the back of a pickup truck. No playback, no overdubs, just the band playing and the two of us moving around them.

We managed to catch the last bit of sunset while we were filming, and everything turned out great. This has been finished for a while now and I’m glad to finally be able to share it.

Whenever I get to film live music like this it ends up being my favorite kind of shoot. If you want another one, I shot behind the scenes on a SerialBox session with David Ramirez, which was a live, one take, multi-camera performance.

Filmed by me and Phil Barrington. Be sure to check out Will and his band over on Yo Soy’s Tumblr.
