Baptism, in the Christian faith, represents Christians putting their full faith in Christ and choosing to follow him for the rest of their lives. When someone is baptized, they are fully submerged in water; this is a symbol of Ephesians 2:1 that reads, “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins.” In Ephesians 2:5-7, the Apostle Paul says, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us up with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” This is represented when the person being baptized has been lifted up out of the water.I felt that using slow motion for this video would capture this image well. Oftentimes, a baptism occurs in few seconds and some of the beauty is missed if you aren’t paying close attention. Thankfully, Sony’s new NEX-FS700 video camera was capable of stretching those few seconds out into minutes. I’m seriously in love with this camera. 1080p at 240 frames per second is amazing!
Be sure to download the video to see the full quality of the camera.
If you’re interested in shooting with an FS700 and curious if your computer can handle editing the footage, I’ve made several of the .MTS video files available for you straight from the camera. There is a picture profile that was used on the clips but I am not sure which one. Otherwise they are ungraded. If you need help playing the clips back, I would recommend using VLC media player which works great. Please feel free to edit/grade these clips but if you decide to upload them, please give me credit and send me a link, and please do not sell them.
